Community Interpreter Option Now Available

If you have limited English skills, you can bring an interpreter to class with you, for Basic Training or Continuing Education classes. We call such volunteer interpreters “Community Interpreters.” Your Community Interpreter must be at least 18 years old.
When you register for a class, please select “Bringing An Interpreter” and your language. This is required to reserve a space for the interpreter in the class.
You and your Community Interpreter should watch a helpful online orientation before your first community interpretation session. This orientation will help prepare you for the experience.

The Training Partnership offers an Orientation program called a “Tip Sheet” for your Community Interpreter, to help them prepare to translate for you in class. It is very important that your interpreter read this “Tip Sheet” before your first class, especially if they do not have training in interpreting.

Please also provide this link to your interpreter, or print the Tip Sheet and give it to them. It will help your interpreter work together with you and your instructor, and allow you to have a successful class experience in your own language.
